System Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place Genie in well-ventilated area.

1. Connect satellite dish: Run coaxial cable from dish to Genie satellite input.

First-Time Setup

Controls and Settings

Access menu system via remote control. Front Panel: POWER, MENU, INFO, FORMAT.

Remote: POWER, GUIDE, MENU, INFO, DVR, LIST, directional pad, SELECT, colored action buttons.

Settings: Parental Controls, Display (720p/1080i/1080p), Audio (Stereo/Dolby Digital), Network setup, System information. DVR Settings: Default recording quality, Manage recordings, Series Manager, Storage information.

Connecting Devices

Satellite: Coaxial input. TV: HDMI or component. Audio: Optical or RCA. Network: Ethernet.

1. Turn off all devices before connecting.
2. Use high-quality HDMI cables for best performance.
3. Connect Ethernet cable for internet features.
4. Ensure satellite dish is properly aligned.

Tip: Use component cables if HDMI connection has compatibility issues.

Recording and Playback

Supports single recording, series recording, and manual recordings.

1. Record show: Press RECORD button; select options for single or series recording.
2. Play recorded show: Press DVR button; select from recorded programs list.
3. Manage recordings: Delete, protect, or prioritize recordings in DVR manager.
4. Series Manager: Set recording rules for entire series.
5. QuickTune: Set favorite channels for quick access.
6. Restart: Restart currently airing show from beginning.
7. Skip: 30-second skip forward; 8-second rewind.

Whole-Home Features

Genie Mini clients: Access live TV and recorded content in additional rooms. MRV (Multi-Room Viewing): Watch recorded shows on any Genie Mini client. On-Demand: Access thousands of movies and shows. Genie Recommendations: Personalized show suggestions based on viewing history.

Maintenance & Updates

Regular software updates occur automatically. Keep system connected to internet for latest features. Clean with dry cloth only; no liquids.
