Installation Requirements

Before installation, gather all necessary tools and components.

  1. Tools needed: Drill, wrench set, screwdrivers, compass, level, cable stripper.
  2. Components: Slimline dish, mounting bracket, LNBF, coaxial cables, connectors.
  3. Location: Clear southern sky view (azimuth 183°-273° for continental US).
  4. Cable: RG-6 coaxial cable with weatherproof connectors.

WARNING! Ensure safe ladder use and proper roof safety procedures. Check for overhead power lines.

Mounting the Dish

Select stable mounting location and secure dish assembly.

  1. Choose location: Clear line of sight to southern sky, minimal obstructions.
  2. Mount assembly: Secure mast to roof, wall, or ground using provided hardware.
  3. Attach dish: Mount dish to mast, ensure all bolts are tight but adjustable.
  4. Install LNBF: Attach LNBF to arm, connect cables, secure weather boots.

CAUTION! Use proper mounting hardware for surface type. Ensure mast is perfectly vertical using level.

Precise alignment is critical for optimal signal reception.

Alignment Steps: Use compass for azimuth, inclinometer for elevation.

Azimuth: 183°-273° (continental US), Elevation: 20°-60°, Tilt: -15° to +15°. Use signal meter or receiver signal strength menu. Fine-tune for maximum signal on all satellites (101°, 99°, 103°, 110°, 119°). Secure all adjustment bolts after alignment.

Cable Connections

Proper cable installation ensures signal integrity.

  1. Run cables: From dish to receiver location, avoid sharp bends.
  2. Connectors: Install weatherproof F-connectors on cable ends.
  3. Grounding: Install proper grounding block per local electrical codes.
  4. Testing: Check continuity and signal loss before final connection.

Multi-Switch Setup

For multiple receiver installations, use compatible multi-switch.

  1. Connect inputs: Run cables from dish LNBF outputs to multi-switch inputs.
  2. Connect outputs: Run cables from multi-switch to each receiver location.
  3. Power: Connect power inserter to multi-switch as specified.
  4. Test: Verify all receivers can access all satellite signals.
  5. Configuration: Some switches may require dip switch settings.

WARNING! Always use power inserter on correct port. Do not connect power to non-powered ports.

Signal Testing

Verify installation quality through comprehensive signal testing.

Access receiver signal strength menu. Check all satellites (101, 99c, 99s, 103s, 103ca, 103cb). Minimum acceptable signal: 70+ on transponders. Optimal signal: 90+ on most transponders. Check both odd and even transponders. Verify no signal degradation during weather changes.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures long-term performance.

Inspect cables and connectors annually. Check dish alignment after severe weather. Clean dish surface with mild soap and water. Ensure mounting hardware remains tight. Check for vegetation growth blocking signal path.

CAUTION! Do not use abrasive cleaners on dish surface. Always disconnect power before maintenance.
